Executive Team
Bonnie Dawdy, Associate Director, Venture Center. Bonnie Dawdy is the Associate Director of the Venture Center for the West Michigan Science & Technology Initiative, the MEDC Grand Rapids SmartZoneSM for life sciences. In this role, she is responsible for the core operations and incubator management (organizational processes, budget and finance, personnel, incubator member facilities and billings, grant research, supervision of clerical and student support) for both the Michigan Street and Monroe Avenue incubators of the Initiative. She is responsible for overseeing the Marketing and Public Relations for WMSTI. She is the event coordinator for the WMSTI and works with clients and community organizations on collaborative events offered in the region.
Previously, Dawdy served as WMSTI's operations manager and has been part of the executive team since August of 2006. Dawdy joined WMSTI after serving as an executive secretary in the Office of the President at Grand Valley State University for 10 years. She began her career at GVSU in 1993, and played an integral role in the start up of the Johnson Center for Philanthropy.
Dawdy received her certification in April 2011 for Incubator Management through the National Business Incubation Association and will continue to attend national and international conferences to enhance her professional development in incubator management. Her educational background includes Business Administration with an emphasis in management and entrepreneurship from Grand Valley State University. She also attended Davenport Business College as a business administration major.
She is a member of both the NBIA and the MBIA (Michigan Business Incubation Association), is involved in the Grant Leadership Advisory Team of the GVSU Grants Administration Office, is a former board member of the GVSU University Club, a cabinet member for the GVSU Faculty/Staff Campaign, an active Volunteer for the Marrow/Stem Cell Program at the Michigan Community Blood Center, and a consultant for the Heart of West Michigan United Way campaign.
