Graduate of Students in Transition

Sarah McNees, Operations Associate, Entrepreneur Services. Sarah McNees previously held the operations associate position at the West Michigan Science & Technology Initiative and the Grand Rapids SmartZoneSM.

In this position, she acted as a liaison and project manager for The West Michigan Medical Device Consortium. Sarah was also an advisor to the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Network, a multi university collaborative which strives to bring a diverse group of students together to enrich the West Michigan Business community and promote the entrepreneurial mindset.

Sarah was also a program assistant for the West Michigan Business Accelerator, Momentum, a member of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Greater Grand Rapids, and The National Association of Social Workers. She has interned with The Area Agency on Aging of West Michigan and is regularly volunteers with several community groups.

Sarah began her work with The Initiative in 2007 as a student employee. She transitioned into her role as the operations associate upon graduation in 2009. She received her bachelor's degree from Grand Valley State's College of Community and Public Service. In the fall of 2010 Sarah will be pursuing a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan.
